Discussion: Abraham's Faith

Genesis 15:1-6(NIV)

After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:
“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield,[a]your very great reward.[b]
But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit[c] my estate is Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir. He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring[d] be.”
Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
In Galatians 5:7-8, Paul affirmed: Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”
Abraham's had not just faith in a son at the age of 100, but in being the Father of many nations. His belief was credited to him as righteousness. Righteousness means to be right before God. Faith is the path we travel toward hope. Abraham is the father of our faith. As believers in Jesus Christ's death, resurrection and current work in our lives we inherit our father's blessing.

We will discuss Abraham's faith and provide an opportunity to do an art activity connected to Genesis 15. We will spend the next couple of months discussing faith as it pertains to our lives and our upcoming art show in the Vineyard Cafe. Details will follow at the meeting.

Our meetings are all about building community and sharing who God made us to be. You can count on a supportive group of people following Jesus to build friendships with. Below are the activities that we engage in during our 2 hour meet-up:
  • Prayer
